Sunday, August 24, 2008 - Rest Day in St. Louis, MO

We spent today doing laundry, cleaning the muck from the KATY trail off the bike and working on next week's route. Next week has only four riding days with a rest day with an old friend, David Elmore, in West Lafayette, IN.

We are considering a change to the route beyond Lafayette to go farther north. This will allow us to visit with Sari's mother and brother who would drive down route 75 from Detroit. We may also add another day to ease our way through the Allegheny mountains. Unfortunately, Pennsylvania does not grade the roads as well as the western states, so there will be some pretty steep hills.

Tomorrow we will cross the Mississippi and visit the Lewis and Clark State Memorial Park at the confluence of the Missouri and Missippi rivers.
